Enhancing Organizational Performance Across Life Changes

As Children's day and Workers'day been celebrated, the Institute for Work and Family Integration (IWFI) a Non-Governmental and non-profit organization holds her annual Work and Family Conference with the theme "Employee Journey:. Enhancing organizational performance across life changes". This 6th edition of the conference, with its debut in 2014, is in collaboration with Lagos Business School of Pan-Atlantic University.
Works and family conference yearly brings together, chief executives, HR directors, and HR professionals to focus on the most important asset, the people. Also, it aims to enable people to look beyond performance management system and examine the impact of policies and the environment on the people and the next generation of workers.
The chairman of this year conference, Mr. Patrick Akinwuntan, MD Ecobank Nigeria Ltd, who is also a member, Board of Governors Institute for Works and Family Integration commenced the conference with a warm welcome address, stressing the aim of this year conference which is to "enabling us look beyond our performance management system/structure by examining the impact of policies and the environment on the people and our next generation of workers." He ended his speech by assuring participants that, the assembled experts from academia, business, and human resources will shed more light on the emerging trend of Employee Journey and how best organisations can enhance organizational performance across life changes.

Prof. Chantal Epie, Dean School of Management Sciences and Social Studies commenced first session where she introduced the speakers for the session, Ifeyinwa Awagu, Director, Institute of Humanities, Pan Atlantic University and Emmanuel Imafidon, former HR Director and Business Services Chevron Nigeria.
Mrs. Ifeyinwa Awagu spoke on the Human Person and Current Organization Realities, she spoke on human dignity which she refers to unalienable right of each individual human being to self respect and respect from others, to set ones own standard and principles of living and living accordingly. Furthermore, she highlighted the consequences and implications.
The Second speaker, Mr. Emmanuel Imafidon addressed The Human side of organizational polices, creating a culture of caring, connection and support. He passed an intense message to the participants saying " how you make people feel positively, is your credit in life as a successful Human being".
The second session commenced immediately after the networking break session.
The third speaker, Mrs. Lola Esan, Director, People and Organization, EY West Africa, addressed the Multigenerational Workforce on the advantages and disadvantages of engaging Millennial`. She spoke so passionately and intensively on the topic.

Panelists, Wale Adediran President Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN), Alero Onosode GM HR Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc, Yemi Faseun HR Director and Interim COO FBN Quest, deliberated on The impact of Toxicity on the employee and productivity; Cross over and spillover effects.
It was stated that there is extremely strong evidence that toxic behaviors are contagious, Employees are many times more likely to engage in toxic behaviors if they are exposed to toxic Employees. Therefore, there are different reasons why people behave the way they do, Organizations should first seek to address such underlying issues by providing sufficient interventions and where there are no behavioral changes, appropriate sanctions should be applied.
The speaker further states that "If your organizational culture is not where you would like it to be today, its an opportunity to drive changes within each level of your organization to improve engagement and workplace quality."
Questions were asked by some participants and answered by the speakers, and panelist at the end of sessions.
The Director, Great Place to Work,Ghana commerce the third session. Measuring the ROI and Business Outcomes of the Employee Experience; Gathering and providing data to Support HR proposals to Management. After his presentation, the Speakers were awarded while participants were presented with certificate of attendance.
